‘My cake journey began around 20 years ago, making novelty cakes for friends and family as a hobby while I worked as a business journalist. When I discovered the versatility of buttercream, I was hooked. It’s so delicious and I can create huge decorative cakes in a fraction of the time it would take to construct something similar out of fondant, a bonus for someone with little patience. This is why buttercream cakes are often surprisingly inexpensive.
