Lockdown celebrations
A lot of my couples are ordering little single tier cakes to mark the day that their wedding should have been. They’re having a couple of cocktails (I thoroughly recommend ordering a cocktail box from Libation Bar Events ), a takeaway dinner from their favourite restaurant, and hanging out together with a miniature version of their wedding cake, taking a couple of photos and chatting about their eventual wedding and how awesome it still will be.
I’m also making lots of lockdown birthday cakes in this size, which is perfect for a family of 4-5. You’ll probably know about my hysterical aversion to novelty cakes but I’m relaxing this and having a whole load of fun with it I’m afraid to admit. I’ll still draw the line at shoes and cars but I’m just working on a rocket (super realistic moon with buttercream, craters and everything) and have delivered Peppa Pig and a labradoodle over the last few days.
For my husband’s birthday today (a big one as well), we made a very silly pop-up card with photos of the whole family and he was so thrilled. I’m going to post a little tutorial for how to do this in a couple of days. We’ll have a little barbecue later and FaceTime a couple of mates who tend to get pissed at the same rate as us.
A 5in cake is £60 for newsletter subscribers, £75 for weird folks who don’t subscribe, and can be delivered free of charge within 10 miles of Westerham. Cupcakes are £20 for a box of six and can be posted for £26. Cakes can be collected, but I’d prefer a cake to be collected as part of an essential errand if possible. Do get in touch if you fancy one. Don’t forget that the cakes freeze brilliantly if you want to save some for friends or fam on the other side.
